Who Am I

A Book Lovin’ Mama’s Blog is a blog that shares reviews of books that I read throughout the year and posts that share some of my life stories. The books that I receive come from authors, publishing companies, blog tour companies, or are purchased by my own book budget throughout the year. I’m a hobbyist book review blog and do not get paid at all for my blog via the authors, publishing companies, blog tour companies, etc. I love sharing my love of reading and the books I read to my followers.

What personal data do I collect and why do I collect it? 

Giveaways

A Book Lovin’ Mama’s Blog offers giveaways occasionally but not often. I will collect your name and email address so if you win you can be contacted and arrangements made for you to collect the prize.

Some giveaways may be sponsored by a third party, such as an author or publisher. When this is the case it will be stated in the giveaway so you are aware before entering the draw. I will share the winner(s) information only with the third party. This will be for the purpose of collecting the prize.

If you are a winner I may ask for further personal information such as a mailing address so I can send you the prize. Once you have confirmed you have received your prize or after 3 months has passed whichever is first, this information will be deleted.

By entering your name and email address you are giving A Book Lovin’ Mama’s Blog or when applicable the third party consent to contact you as described above.

I use Rafflecopter to collect giveaway entrants and pick our winners. Please see their Privacy Policy here. 

I collect your personal information on your consent and it will be used solely for the purposes of the giveaway. Your information will never be sold, rented or shared with any other third party.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Visitors can choose to leave comments anonymously at any time on the blog as well.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Visitor comments will also be checked through an automated spam detection service (Akismet). Check out Akismet’s Privay Policy for more information.

Affiliate links

When clicking on affiliate links this will redirect you off A Book Lovin’ Mama’s Blog to a vendor – usually Amazon.com. If you purchase a product from the vendor, this will result in A Book Lovin’ Mama’s Blog getting a small commission.

All purchases are anonymous and although I can view what has been purchased in a given time period, I cannot see who purchased it.

The vendor keeps all personal details anonymous from A Book Lovin’ Mama’s Blog.

Mailing List

I use a secure newsletter service (MailerLite) that collects names and email addresses only to provide periodic emails of blog post content on A Book Lovin’ Mama’s Blog. Subscribers are able to change their subscription at any time. If they choose to unsubscribe then your PII is deleted from my newsletter listing and you will no longer receive emails from A Book Lovin’ Mama’s Blog. Check out MailerLite’s Privacy Policy.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, I will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

How long do I retain your data?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

You choose how long I retain your name and email address for newsletter subscription since you are able to subscribe and unsubscribe at any time.

What rights you have over your data?

If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How does A Book Lovin’ Mama’s Blog protect my visitors’ information? 

A Book Lovin’ Mama’s Blog implements a variety of security measures; regular scans for security holes and known vulnerabilities in order to make my visitors visit to my website as safe and secure as possible.

For users that sign up via my newsletter, I store that information via the secure newsletter site. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time via subscription (subscribe/unsubscribe).
