“Is that why you do what you do?” My eyebrows pinch. “You have no fear of moral consequences?”

He drags his nose along my cheek, breathing me in, before moving to my ear and licking the shell of it.
“Do you want to pray for me, Violet?” he whispers. “Do you want to get on your knees and beg the Lord forgiveness for my sins? Or are you worried he’ll condemn you for your own?”

My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
