They created a weapon. And he is that weapon...
He was stationed at Area 51, a loyal soldier serving his country, and later injected with what he believed to be a standard vaccination, only it was an experiment. Now he's a weapon, a man with skills like no other, who can travel with the wind, a man with darkness within that he battles every day of his life.
Then he meets Addie—the light to his darkness, the daughter of the man who created him. Addie is the only one who understands Creed, the only one who makes him feel more man than monster.
But there is war in the air between Creed, his fellow windwalkers, and Addie's father. Creed will not allow himself, or the others like him, to live as pawns and weapons.
Now Addie must choose a side. Her father or the man she loves.
I was looking for something to read other than Contemporary Romance, and Lisa delivered a Fated Mates/Paranormal Romance that was hard to put down. He Is… Creed is the first book in Lisa Renee Jones’s Windwalkers series, and this book immediately grabbed me at the first page. It didn’t take long to read either, but it did leave me with a cliffhanger at the end. I also wasn’t expecting a certain character to do a complete 360, which I wasn’t prepared for.
I enjoyed the storyline behind this series, where the FMC is determined to find out all she can about the Windwalkers, the Special Force military members who were injected with a vaccine that ended up making them weapons. The issue is her father is behind what happened to the Windwalkers, and she doesn’t agree with what her father did and continues to do to the Windwalkers. She makes it known to one of them, who has shown an interest in her, Creed Monroe, that she is against her father using him and his men as experiments. The issue is that she fears Creed will never trust her due to her being her father’s daughter. Creed will not let his men become pawns, but he can’t seem to stay away from Addie, even though he should, especially since some of his men don’t trust her.
The first thing I thought after finishing this book was that Hollywood needs to make this book/series into a movie/TV series. This is something I would love to watch. I liked how Lisa set the first book with the world-building, introducing the key characters (good and potentially bad), and she even gave us other character POVs (not just the main characters, Addie and Creed). There is a cliffhanger, which I mentioned earlier in my review, and it’s one where you will be left in shock.
Overall, this is another great book from Lisa Renee Jones, and I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. This book definitely prevented me from going into a reading slump. It reminded me that PNR/Sci-Fi books will forever be my favorite subgenre(s) in romance, especially when it has the Fated Mates trope. =)
