Their eyes locked. They both felt the intense chemistry. She went to step down from the bar stool and, of course, her foot missed a step and she went staggering downward. In order to break her fall, she grabbed his bar stool with one hand and the other landed directly in his lap. Her fingers held tight to his inner thigh until she realized she had stabilized her movements. Horrified, she slowly moved her fingers, but not before feeling his warmth and the slow rise in his crotch. Marena looked up wide-eyed. She saw pure amusement in his twinkling baby blues. She knew that between the drinks and her embarrassment, her face must be bright red. They both realized her clumsiness and the irony of the situation. Their eyes locked and simultaneously they both burst out laughing. He couldn’t remember the last time he laughed and carried on this way in front of a stranger. It was a private joke between them. He was chuckling as she walked away.
“Seriously, Mom, how many drinks did you have?” Rose asked, concerned.
Marena rolled her eyes. She was smiling while following Rose to their table in the back right corner of the room. She looked over her shoulder quickly and gave a brief wave and wink to her rescuer, who was still looking quite amused.

My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
