FranJessca: Tell us five fun facts about yourself that some readers may not know.
Nina:
- I’ve relocated to a new town or home over a dozen times.
- I gave my cat/office partner a “pen name”– Catnip Smurfy (also known as Smurf Cat and the Four Pawed Princess).
- I love plants. Currently, I have forty plus.
- I have a weakness for licorice—the good kind.
- I have developed a thing for Snoopy Santa animated/dancing plush toys. They call out to me when I see them, and, somehow, they just end up in my shopping cart.
FranJessca: What comes first for you — the plot or the characters — and why?
Nina: It varies. Something I’ve read online or a brainstorming conversation might inspire a plot for a book or series. Other times, a secondary character in a story I’ve written becomes the starting point for a book.
FranJessca: Favorite place where you like to write.
Nina: I don’t have a favorite place. My office, the kitchen counter, or the back porch–it depends on what feels like a right fit for the day.
FranJessca: For new readers, which books should they read first from your backlist?
Nina: A Chef’s Kiss, Small Town Secrets, Book 1 (sexy, small-town romance)The First Rule of Hook-Ups, The Breakup Bash, Book 1 (steamy erotic romance)
FranJessca: Tell us about your upcoming release(s) that you have planned.
Nina: My next release is Expecting a Fortune (March 26, 2024). It’s part of the Fortunes of Texas: Digging for Secrets multi-author mini-series.
FranJessca: How do you celebrate when you finish writing a book/series?
Nina: I catch up on sleep! And then I spend time with my husband, usually a date night, meeting up with friends, or binge-watching movies or a series.
FranJessca: What are you looking forward to most at the Coastal Magic Convention?
Nina: Catching up with authors and readers and meeting book lovers who are new to me.
FranJessca: Coffee or Tea or something else?
Nina: It’s a tie—coffee or wine.
FranJessca: Mountains or Beach?
Nina: Beach!
FranJessca: What’s your favorite TV show(s) or movie(s)?
Nina: Currently, Star Trek Lower Decks, Mrs. Sidhu Investigates, and Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
