Can he have the fantasy and the reality both?
After seeing his boss Matt find the love of his life in the high powered executive Savannah Tennyson, Lucas finds he’s wanting more out of a relationship than just fantastic sex. Then on a cycling trip in the Berkshires, he stumbles on a pin-up fantasy, a beautiful blonde pleasuring herself on her Harley in a secluded glade. Can he have the fantasy and the reality both? When Cassandra Moira reappears in his life a month later as part of a negotiating team on a three-day business deal, he’ll have to use every strategy—including the sensual skills of his own multi-talented team—to convince her the two of them have more than sexual chemistry, before she’s gone from his life again.
Controlled Response is Joey W. Hill’s second book in her Knights of the Boardroom series. This series is full of spice and definitely makes me resee boardrooms differently, especially with how the MMCs run their boardroom.
This time, readers will get Lucas Adler’s book, and I’m one reader who couldn’t wait to read his book after being introduced to him in Board Resolution. Lucas is ready to settle down and find his one and only, like Matt did in Board Resolution. He finds his match in Cassandra, whom he met briefly while he was out cycling one day, and finds her on top of a Harley pleasuring herself. He’s intrigued enough to watch until she notices him, and then he decides he can help her. Afterward, they go their separate ways, but a month later, they end up seeing each other again because she’s at his company to negotiate a deal with them. Cassandra is not looking for anything serious, especially when she has a lot of responsibilities, but Lucas will not let her get away this time. He’ll have the other Knights of the Boardroom help him convince her to stay.
I loved both Lucas and Cassandra in this book—Lucas for his dominant ways, plus his determination to win over Cassandra and Cassandra for being a strong FMC who deserved to have someone to take care of her for once. I loved how these two met initially, which definitely was a steamy scene, and I loved when they met each other again. I also loved how the other knights were there to assist Lucas in winning over Cassandra, and it came down in the boardroom.
Every book I’ve picked up so far from Joey has a great storyline full of steam and passion, plus characters who I definitely connected with instantly. As of right now, Lucas is my favorite in the series, but that can easily change, especially with how Joey makes me fall for her characters. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Favorite Quotes: God, he loved eating pussy. Second best thing to fucking it.
“A man who sexually dominates a woman, who demands her submission, does so to free her. Lets her fully embrace the passion and need locked inside of her.”
“Cassie, look at me. I want to make love to you. Take you into my bed and keep you there a few decades, savor every inch of you. Make you scream yourself hoarse, and mark every part of you as mine. Make you want to be mine.”
