Two men. One heart. And a choice that will change everything.
ElizabethI thought I was finally piecing my life back together. Then one mistake shattered everything I’d fought so hard to rebuild. I hurt the man I swore I'd love forever. I broke the promises I made to the people who mattered most. And when my world fell apart, I ran—to the only man who could help Fallon Montgomery.
Fallon was supposed to be my sanctuary, my shelter from the storm. But he carried shadows of his own, secrets darker than I ever imagined. As the truth unraveled, I was left wondering—could my story ever have a happy ending? Or was I doomed to lose everything all over again?
FallonElizabeth had always been my obsession. My weakness. The one woman I could never have. When her world fell apart, she came to me. But she didn’t know I was hiding the one truth that could destroy her.
She thought I was her savior. She didn’t realize I was the villain in her love story.
Broken Butterfly, the heart-wrenching third installment of the Fallen Brook series, delivers a tempest of angst, passion, and devastating choices. Dive into this unflinching tale of love, but be prepared—nothing will ever be the same.
“This book...this series...it will keep hold of me for a lifetime.” – Bookend Gal Book

Broken Butterfly is the third installment in the Fallen Brook series, and it truly made me feel a whirlwind of emotions. Throughout reading this book, I was hoping that Elizabeth would finally achieve her happily ever after with the one she loved, but she had to resolve some issues before that could happen. After the cliffhanger in the second book, I realized that the only person who could help her and provide a distraction was Fallon. I was particularly intrigued by him, especially finding out in this book that he had a crush on her for a while. One thing about Fallon is that he is very respectful and protective of those he loves, and Elizabeth is included in that protection, and you’ll find out what he does for her in this book. I loved getting to know his character more since he had been a mystery since book one.

Fallon ended up being the supportive friend that Elizabeth needed throughout everything, but he is also hiding a dark secret that will finally be revealed in this book. I thought I had figured out what happened to Elizabeth and her family in the first book, but Jennilynn Wyer threw in several twists and turns that kept me on my toes. I’m so glad that Elizabeth finally got the closure she needed, and she was able to discover who she truly loved in the end. She has been through so much since the first book, and Jennilynn Wyer is still going to put her through a lot, even in this installment.

I loved who Elizabeth chose in the end because he was the better fit for her. I had always been rooting for this MMC to win her heart. He loved her from the moment they met and treated her like a queen. On the other hand, I was disappointed with how Jayson’s character developed in this book. I understood that he was upset, but he had no right to treat Elizabeth the way he did. I lost respect for him after a certain scene, though he did make amends. Ultimately, he won’t be a character I’ll admire as much as his twin brother, who was there for Elizabeth through it all. I just found out that Julien has his own trilogy, so I need to read his books as well.

Here’s the thing: I wasn’t expecting another cliffhanger at the end of the epilogue. Jennilynn Wyer, you sly author! Just when I thought Elizabeth was finally going to have her HEA, you twisted the story at the last moment. Don’t worry; Elizabeth does achieve her HEA in this book, finding happiness with the man she has truly loved for a long time. However, it seems she may also discover another form of joy later in life with someone else. It’s true what they say about Jennilynn Wyer’s books: she is the Queen of Cliffhangers, and she’s also known to make you cry. Make sure to have tissues handy when you read this series because you will definitely need them.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Would I recommend this book/series? Yes. If you love epic love stories that cause heartache and have you reaching for tissues, check out the Fallen Brook series by Jennilynn Wyer. I guess I should type a bio here. I'm FranJessca, or Fran for short. I'm the owner/reviewer behind A Book Lovin' Mama's Blog. I've been reading and reviewing books on my blog since leaving the Navy in 2011, and I will keep doing it as long as possible. My favorite genres will always be Romance & Fantasy, and I read every subgenre underneath those two genres. (Sorry, not a fan of nonfiction, so don't try to convince me to read it.)
My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
