I’ve fought with my fists my whole life, but when my heart is on the line, it’s a battle I might lose…
I’ve only ever been good at two Fighting and f*cking. The entire Hawke family calls me a rebel. But all I want is to live my life however I choose.Without interference from people who think they know what’s best for me and set their expectations far too high.Only now, I may have lost my future completely.Pain has become my constant companion. That and anger.Every time I see the gnarly pink damage to my shoulder and feel the searing agony with each movement, I’m reminded of what taking that bullet took from me.But when I look at Wren, I don’t see her scars.Only a stunning woman who has suffered and overcome things I can’t even fathom. One who doesn’t understand her true beauty or worth but somehow still manages to exude the type of strength I can’t find anymore. She’s the sole person in my life who never asks me to change who or what I am and pushes me to face down my own demons. And while I’ve proved I’ll do anything to protect the people I love. When defending them means hurting her, it may be the one fight I can’t win.
Rebel Hawke is the fifth book in The Hawke Family Second Generation Series from USA Today Bestselling Author Gwyn McNamee. Grab this angsty, second chance, opposites attract, billionaire romance about a wounded rebel who defends his family at any cost and a woman beaten down by life who find that love is worth fighting for.
Rebel Hawke is the fifth installment in Gwyn McNamee’s Billionaires of New Orleans: The Hawke Family Second Generation series. In this book, readers will finally get to know Atlas, the rebel of the Hawke family and the son of Gabe and Skye. Unlike his relatives, Atlas resisted working in the family businesses and instead chose to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps as a fighter.
Atlas is struggling with the aftermath of what happened in the previous book, which is making it difficult for him to fight completely. However, his stubbornness and determination to win a belt keep him going, especially since it will occur after the grand opening of his family’s hotel. A surprise from Atlas’s past unexpectedly appears next door to his gym, filling him with both anxiety and excitement. The girl who was once a close friend has returned, and he is now more determined than ever to have her back in his life as something more than just friends.
Wren did everything she could to avoid running into Atlas when she returned to town. But it was inevitable, given that her new pilates studio is located next to the gym, and her grandfather is Atlas’s trainer. She was always a part of the Hawke family before she left, and now that she is back, she finds herself embraced by them once again. The Hawkes are all aware of the history between Wren and Atlas and are eager to see them happy together once more.
I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Atlas, the rebel from the Hawke family, and the girl he falls for, Wren. Although they are complete opposites, it was clear that they were meant to be together. I admired Wren for her strength, especially considering what she had endured in her past. I loved how she handled Atlas toward the end, especially regarding the difficult decision he had to make. I believe she made the right choice by encouraging him to prioritize what was best for himself, rather than for someone else.
Once again, Gwyn McNamee delivered an emotional story that brought me to tears. The book was filled with romance, drama, and an enemy who really needs to be dealt with. The Hawkes deserve happiness, free from anyone who would disrupt their lives. I hope that in Coen’s book, this enemy gets what they deserve. However, I know that Coen will have his hands full due to his actions in this story.
This book is definitely another favorite in the series, and I give it five stars. I can’t wait to read the final installment, although I wish the series wouldn’t have to come to an end. I know I’m going to miss the Hawke family once it’s all over.
Single/Dual POV: Dual POV.
Standalone or Part of Series: It’s part of the Hawke Family Second Generation series, and I highly recommend reading the books in order due to the ongoing storylines.
Would I recommend this book/series? Yes, if you enjoy reading billionaire romance stories filled with drama, emotional storylines, and steamy scenes, then this is a must-read.
