The secret’s out...
Fate has never been kind to me, but the misfortunes of my past have driven me to seek redemption.
My future depends on uncovering my past, but sadly, the answers lay with my mother, a mother who abandoned me when I was only a child.
Now that I have finally found her, I’m determined to uncover the truth before my past catches up with me.
But that information comes with a price…Quinn Berkeley is the sole reason I carry on. But Quinn has a secret of his own.
Will his secret destroy us both? And more importantly, what will Quinn’s secret do to him once he confesses the sins of his past?
Life is about to explode in a way I never thought possible...
Something Like Love is the third installment in Monica James’s Something Like Normal series. This series has definitely kept me in a chokehold, especially with how it has kept me on the edge of my seat. Warning: the third book ends on another cliffhanger, but here’s hoping we get the fourth book soon because I need Mia to have a HEA. She deserves it.
Important Note: The first thing I want to mention to readers who are thinking about picking up this series. You can’t read these out of order, and I recommend reading them in order due to the cliffhangers.
The book picks up from the second book, and Mia is finally going to get answers on why her mother left her with her father. It’s not going to be a happy reunion, and it broke my heart knowing everything Mia had gone through to find her mother, only to feel betrayed, amongst other feelings. There’s also something else that is revealed to Mia that she has a hard time adjusting to since she feels her mother didn’t love her enough to stay.
I’m glad Mia had Quinn to turn to, and he has been there for her in the long run. He kept reminding her that he was there for her, no matter what, and these two got even closer in this book, even with others tried to test them. These two are meant to be together, and I really need them to be endgame, especially after finding out what Quinn has been hiding.
The book did start slow out for me when I was reading it, but it did pick up pace and that is when the drama really started. Mia and Quinn are still on the run for what happened in South Boston, and Mia’s father is still after her. Mia is going to end up facing off with her father and the other man he’s with, but that puts Mia’s mother at risk of being a part of it, plus someone else. I was shocked to find out the truth from Mia’s mom about what really happened back in the past, and I’m glad that Mia and her mom finally had the much-needed discussion. Like I stated before, it’s not going to be an easy one and I felt for poor Mia. She deserved the truth, and I really need her to have a HEA. This book ends on another cliffhanger and it was an emotional one where Mia had to choose.
Monica, thanks for making my heart race and emotions go haywire in this one. Here’s hoping Monica James doesn’t have us waiting for too long.

My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
