USA Today bestselling author Sara Ney sizzles with a quick-witted, sexy romp about an eager entrepreneur and a cocky football star who couldn’t be more different—or more into each other.
Harlow James is destined to rock the dating world. The creator of Kissmet, the app helping singles find love, she’s in New York to secure advertisers. But the sassy, small-town girl can’t help meddling in other people’s business.
When she runs into a muscular stranger at her go-to food truck, Harlow doesn’t realize he’s Landon “Andy” Burke, the NFL’s most-wanted free agent, in town to talk contracts. She just sees a hottie about to get burned by undercooked street food. Though she tries to warn him, he shrugs her off, making a little wager instead.
In a messy twist of fate, Andy finds himself in the same hotel as Harlow. When she collects on their bet, they make a mind-blowing—and bed-rocking—connection. But after the weekend, she goes home to Green Bay to her goofy dad and corgi, ready to focus everything on work again. Kissmet, however, has other ideas, when Andy knocks on her door…
Not Your Biggest Fan is the first book that I read from Sara Ney, and between the synopsis and tropes of Not Your Biggest Fan, I was intrigued to read this one. This was a cute and funny read that kept me entertained, especially with how the characters met initially. It’s something I’ve never read before in a romance book, and I loved how the FMC, Harlow, tried to help the MMC, Andy, from making a bad decision. He really should have listened to her. 😂 But, then, these two would have never crossed paths again and had an amazing day in New York together.
The story progresses with the characters going their separate ways, but Andy not being able to forget his time with Harlow, especially since she has no clue who he is really. The issue is Andy hasn’t told Harlow the truth about him, and eventually, she’ll find out. He’s hoping it doesn’t scare her away because he is determined to get to know her better.
I enjoyed this story of Andy and Harlow. They were complete opposites of one another, and they had an instant and undeniable chemistry. Andy definitely made an impression with Harlow when it came to bedroom skills and other things. Harlow made an impression on Andy, especially when she treated him normally.
Here’s the thing, though, the story was written in such a short period that it felt rushed almost, especially with the conflict of Andy keeping the secret of his true identity from Harlow and how she handled it. I would have loved to have more of their relationship after she agreed to be with him. There was also a past relationship that Andy had that tried to jeopardize everything with Harlow, who just wanted to cause drama for no reason. It was mainly due to publicity and jealousy.
The one thing that truly irked me was Harlow’s father and how he was annoying Harlow with his constant butting into her life. He should have respected her and not just shown up when he felt like it and he also should have realized that his daughter was an adult.
Aside from a few issues, this was a good read, though it felt rushed for me towards the end. I wish I could have enjoyed it more, as there were several scenes that had me laughing out loud. Overall, I give it 3.5 stars. I definitely plan on checking out other books by Sara Ney, especially if they are just as funny as this one.
Single/Dual POV: Dual POV.
Standalone or Part of Series: It’s an interconnected standalone in the Not Yours series.
Would I recommend this book? Yes. If you are looking for a funny romance story between two opposite characters, then check out this book. If you read Sara Ney’s books before, you’ll enjoy Harlow and Andy’s book.
