I made a deal with the devil...
Declan Pierce is a bully and a sadist. He’s been my enemy since birth, and he’s made my life a living hell. But when my father barters me in an arranged marriage, Declan proposes a deal I can’t refuse.
After all, so long as Declan owns my soul, it can’t be sold to another…
But it turns out Declan wants more than I bargained for. My body, my submission, the truth behind what sent me to Montgomery Psychiatric Ward three years ago. And he’ll haunt every facet of my existence until he gets it.
I thought death was the only truly inescapable thing. After all, nothing is eternal… except maybe him.
I finished an eARC of Eternal a couple of days ago, and it’s still on my mind, which is why it’s taking me so long to write a review for it. This story captivated me in so many ways. All I know is that I wish I could give it more than five stars because it deserves all the stars.
If there’s one thing I’ve realized from reading Eva Simmons’s books, it’s that she excels at creating morally grey heroes whom you can’t help but fall in love with. Each of the main male characters in the Sigma Sin series is certainly not for the faint of heart, including Declan Pierce. However, because Declan is a fictional character, it’s acceptable for him to have a sadistic side, at least with the heroine in the story. You’ll understand why he bullied Tealene throughout the years, especially after that one night that changed things between the two characters. Now, Declan’s determined to win Teal over and make her realize that he is the only one who can save her—especially from those who try to harm her. (Only he can hurt her, no others.) Yes, this is a true Enemies to Lovers story, and you’ll be anticipating the moment when Teal and Declan transition from enemies to lovers. I know I was the whole time I was reading this book.
Now, I’ve read every single one of Eva Simmons’s books/series, and after reading Eternal, I can say with all certainty that Teal is going to be one of my favorite female characters. She’s up there with Merry from Forever and Ever because both of these characters are relatable in ways.
This is one book that you need to check your TW because it dives into some dark stuff, especially with what Teal is going through. I am a reader who doesn’t have any specific triggers; however, the mention of suicide will always impact me because I can relate to Teal because I’ve been there. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.
How about the chemistry that happened between Teal and Declan? It was off the charts and I was here for it. Let’s just say Declan won’t let anyone touch Teal, and Teal will do the same with Declan. I could gush about everything when it comes to these two characters, but I don’t want to spoil any of my special moments between these two. Just know paint will be involved and so will other things because Declan is all about having control and giving Teal what she is truly craving.
It’s true what they say about villains in stories: they will go to great lengths for their heroines, and that’s exactly what Declan does for Teal in this book. These two characters are ones I will never forget, and it’s all thanks to Eva Simmons for writing their story. I wish I could give it more than five stars because it truly deserves it.
Single/Dual POV: Dual POV.
Standalone or Part of Series: It’s an interconnected standalone in the Sigma Sin series.
Would I recommend this book? Heck, Yes! If you love reading dark college romance stories featuring a morally grey character in a secret society who only focuses on the heroine and would burn the world for her, then this book is for you.
