Someone is killing werewolves. At least, that's the way Vincent Van Gogh tells it when he shows up at Mark Abernathy's art gallery seeking protection. For gallery assistant and art history addict Hanna Harvey, meeting Van Gogh is a dream come true—until death follows the troubled artist to town and Hanna becomes the murderer’s next target.
When Alpha Wereboss Mark Abernathy goes missing, a new wave of murders draws the attention of drool-worthy Detective James Morrison, further complicating Hanna’s epic dating dilemma. Only absinthe-swilling bodyguard Toulouse Lautrec stands between Hanna and the malevolent murderer whose grudge runs deep and appears to be connected to the mystery of her bloodline.
Damning evidence convinces Morrison that saving Hanna’s life requires ending Abernathy’s, and she’s forced to choose between protecting the man who holds the key to her past, or spilling her secrets to the detective who could promise her a future.
Read the entire Tails from the Alpha Art Gallery series in order:
1. Love Bites2. Love Sucks3. Love Lies

My poor husband had to suffer with me ignoring him on our road trip from Texas because once I started Love Sucks by Cynthia St. Aubin, I had a hard time putting down this book (or, in my case, stopping the audiobook). After the crazy cliffhanger from Love Bites, I needed to know how Hanna was handling the news from her boss, Mark Abernathy. I also couldn’t wait to find out what other adventures or issues Hanna was going to have to deal with due to working with a boss who was a werewolf, as well as the werewolf artists who worked for him at the gallery he owned.

Poor Hanna is not only going to deal with her broody boss, Mark Abernathy but the fact someone is killing werewolves. The only reason why she knows this is that Vincent Van Gogh lets Mark know that werewolf artists like himself are being targeted, and he needs Mark’s protection. Poor Hanna is going to get caught up in another murder/mystery to figure out, but she’ll be targeted, too.

I loved the storyline of this one and how it involved famous artists coming into the picture. Hanna’s reaction to Vincent Van Gogh was downright hilarious, and I would have been the same way if I had met him in person. The way Mark had to calm her down was also funny. What wasn’t funny was the fact that poor Hanna was being targeted again. The poor girl can’t catch a break. Then, there was the issue of her boss, Mark Abernathy, disappearing, leaving her to deal with the artists that he was supposed to protect. He has an excellent reason to leave, and poor Hanna is going to find out that maybe what Mark told her in Love Bites was true because she’s going to have some unexpected visitors showing up to see her in Love Sucks.

I loved this installment, just like the first. It’s full of mystery, murder, and romance and was hard to put down (or stop the audiobook). It’s also a fast-paced story and doesn’t take long to read (or listen to). I love Hanna’s character and how she handles things, especially with how she handles certain characters in this one. (The other werewolves that kept bugging her.) Don’t mess with Hanna, people. I loved how she handled her boss, too, and I hope that the romance grows more with these two. It’s obvious how much Mark and Hanna are into each other when they get jealous.

Yet again, Cynthia left me another cliffhanger, which means I need the third book immediately. I will make time to read it when it comes in the mail, and I’m probably going to binge the rest; that’s how much I’m enjoying this series. I need more of Hanna, Mark, Steve, Hanna’s three cats (who steal the story sometimes), etc. I give Love Sucks five stars and wish I could give it more.

If you enjoy reading funny Paranormal Romances with a murder/mystery storyline and unforgettable characters, then check out this series.

Audiobook Recommendation: If you enjoy listening to your books, check out this one in audiobook format. Stella Hunter is the narrator for this series, and she’s become a favorite of mine. I love how she brings the story and characters to life.

About Cynthia St. Aubin

USA Today bestselling author Cynthia St. Aubin wrote her first play at age eight and made her brothers perform it for the admission price of gum wrappers. A steal, considering she provided the wrappers in advance. Though her early work debuted to mixed reviews, she never quite gave up on the writing thing, even while earning a mostly useless master's degree in art history and taking her turn as a cube monkey in the corporate warren.

Because the voices in her head kept talking to her, and they discourage drinking at work, she started writing instead. When she's not standing in front of the fridge eating cheese, she's hard at work figuring out which mythological, art historical, or paranormal friends to play with next. She lives in Colorado with the love of her life and three surly cats.

I guess I should type a bio here. I'm FranJessca, or Fran for short. I'm the owner/reviewer behind A Book Lovin' Mama's Blog. I've been reading and reviewing books on my blog since leaving the Navy in 2011, and I will keep doing it as long as possible. My favorite genres will always be Romance & Fantasy, and I read every subgenre underneath those two genres. (Sorry, not a fan of nonfiction, so don't try to convince me to read it.)
My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
