Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.
Evelyn Thomas's plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man in her room, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.
One thing is certain, being married to one of the hottest rock stars on the planet is sure to be a wild ride.
I truly enjoyed returning to the world of one of my favorite fictional rock bands, Stage Dive. I’ve missed this band and the women they fell in love with, so I’m glad I decided to reread Lick before watching the movie adaptation. Lick is the first book in the Stage Dive series, which is my favorite Rockstar Romance series, and I will always recommend it.
What can I say about Lick without giving away too much? I immediately loved, the FMC, Evelyn, especially in how she reacted to being married to David Ferris, the guitarist and songwriter of the band Stage Dive. If I were in her shoes, I would have reacted the same way. She just wanted to understand what happened the night she was in Vegas and how she ended up married to David.
On the other hand, David was upset that Evelyn didn’t remember the events of that night, even though they had an amazing time together that ultimately led to their marriage. It was clear that he cared for her, though he did drive me a bit crazy at times in the book with his lack of communication skills. He definitely fit the alpha male stereotype, which I don’t mind, especially since he didn’t want anyone else touching her— not even his fellow bandmates throughout the book.
I loved how David and Evelyn reconnected in the story, even though David initially tried to make Evelyn jealous. He definitely embodies the bad boy type, which is what I expect in a rockstar romance. There’s no doubt that David and Evelyn had instant chemistry; they just needed time to get to know each other alone, without any distractions.
Fair warning: there is some other woman (OW) drama that occurs. Evelyn doesn’t take David back right away, and I’m glad she didn’t because David had some serious groveling to do. He ultimately wins me over towards the end of the book.
One of the best aspects of this book was the introduction to the other Stage Dive members. Mal, the drummer, still has my heart and won me over even more in this installment.
Overall, this book is a fun-filled, spicy read that includes some drama, making your emotions go haywire. I give it four stars and look forward to continuing my reread of the series.
Single/Dual POV: Single POV (Evelyn’s POV only)
Standalone or Part of Series: I strongly recommend reading this series in order, although they can be enjoyed as standalone books.
Would I recommend this book? Yes, definitely. This series is a must-read for rockstar romance fans out there, like me.
