One break is all The Crow Brothers need and we’re about to get it.
Johnny Outlaw, rock legend and lead singer of The Resistance, is here to watch us play. But he’s not the only familiar face in the crowd—killer little body, heart-shaped face, and drop-dead gorgeous.
Hannah Nichols sitting at the bar makes it hard to concentrate, sparks already reigniting. The beauty was never a groupie and tonight she’s not here to catch our show. She came to drop a bomb. “You have a son.”
She underestimated me. I’ll prove to my son, and her, that I can be the dad he needs.
What is it about musicians? Why are they so damn sexy?
My heart was Jet Crow’s the moment he opened his sexy mouth and sang that first song. One stolen night with that man would never be enough, but I’m not here to fall into his bed. Again. I’m here to fight for custody of a son he’s never known.
There’s just one problem. Those sparks between us have become flames. If we’re not careful we’re both going to get burned.

If there is one thing I love to read is Rockstar Romances and I couldn’t pass up reading Spark, the first book in S.L. Scott’s The Crow Brother series. I gobbled this book up because I couldn’t put it down. I loved everything about it and can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

Usually, I’m not too fond of the secret baby/child trope because I get annoyed when a parent keeps the existence of their child a secret from the other parent for an extended period. But, for some reason, when S.L. Scott wrote this particular trope for Spark, I knew it was going to be different. This was an emotional story about a rockstar who is about to make his break in the rockstar world and become a father all in one, having no clue he had a child. Jet Crow’s world is about to change when the woman he had a one-night stand with shows up, telling him he’s the father of her nephew. He knows that, at first, she’ll think he’ll deny having a son and not want to be there for him, but he’s determined to prove her wrong. He’ll do anything in his power to be there for his son, plus try to win her over since he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her since their one night together.

This book tugged at my heart so much with how Jet stepped up to be a father to his son, Alfie, who absolutely was adorable and stole the book so many times for me. Jet adjusted his life for Alfie, even when he was signing with the rock band The Resistance. He knew where his priorities had to be, and I loved how he and Hannah worked as a team when it came to Alfie. Seriously, the chemistry between Jet and Hannah was off the charts when they finally gave into those feelings they had for one another, and I was here for it. They deserved to find their Second Chance at Love, which is another trope I love reading. Now, there is a drama that happens at the beginning of the book between him and Hannah because Hannah has been told bad things about Jet by her Aunt, but once she gets to see him with Alfie, she knows that her Aunt may be lying about Jet.

Hannah was such a strong character, especially with everything she endured, not only with her family, who treated her horribly, but with what happened in a past relationship. She not only found love with Jet in this book, but she found a family that was willing to fight for her.

S.L. Scott definitely knows how to keep me entertained with the books she writes, especially with the heartfelt storylines and memorable characters. This was only the second book I’ve read from her, and it definitely won’t be my last, especially since this is a five-star read for me. I’m determined to work my way through her backlist; that’s how much I’m enjoying her books.

Single/Dual POV: Dual POV.

Standalone or Part of Series: It’s an interconnected standalone in the Crow Brothers series.

Would I recommend this book? Yes. If you enjoy reading Second Chance Rock Star romance stories, then check out Spark by S.L. Scott. Spark will tug on your heart, and you’ll be like me, wanting to read the rest of the books in the series right away, especially when the other Crow Brothers are introduced in this book.

Audiobook Recommendation: I highly recommend the audiobook if you enjoy listening to your books. The narrators, Sebastian York and Ava Erickson do a fabulous job bringing the characters and story to life.

I guess I should type a bio here. I'm FranJessca, or Fran for short. I'm the owner/reviewer behind A Book Lovin' Mama's Blog. I've been reading and reviewing books on my blog since leaving the Navy in 2011, and I will keep doing it as long as possible. My favorite genres will always be Romance & Fantasy, and I read every subgenre underneath those two genres. (Sorry, not a fan of nonfiction, so don't try to convince me to read it.)
My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
