From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Gena Showalter comes a new story in her Lords of the Underworld series…
Forsaken. Deathless. A monster in every way. Mostly, Brochan is determined. He craves what fate promised him—the woman who will help him conquer a heavenly kingdom. He will stop at nothing to win her.
Viola, Keeper of the demon of Narcissism, lives for a single purpose—treating herself and her pet to the best life possible. But a crazed warrior is now appearing everywhere she ventures, ruining her fun…. tempting her beyond reason and keeping her at a razor-edge of desire.
Though legions of males have attempted to win her, all have failed. Somehow, this rampaging beast is tearing down her walls, one by one, claiming he owns her heart and her very destiny. To be with him, however, she must defeat the only force strong enough to destroy her—love.
The Darkest Destiny is another novella in the Lords of the Underworld series. For readers of the series, we finally get Viola’s book and who will be able to handle her having the demon Narcissism. For new readers, this is definitely a novella that will make you want to read the rest of the series.
This was another great installment from Gena for the LOTU series, but I’m sad that it’s over. The characters and the storylines for each felt like family, including this one. I may not have liked Viola at first and found her annoying due to her demon, but she grew on me, and I loved learning her back story and how much she loves her Fluffy. Don’t ever mess with Fluffy! She’s just trying to find her happiness and make her Fluffy happy, too, until a certain warrior causes havoc in her life, and now she’s feeling all kinds of feelings for him.
Brochan was an interesting character, especially with him having horns. He was very protective of his brother and only wanted revenge for what happened to him, but he couldn’t stay away from the alluring Goddess Viola. I loved their constant back and forth with one another. The ending was an emotional one, but it’s a well-deserved HEA for these two characters.
If you haven’t read this Paranormal Romance series from Gena Showalter, you are missing out. This will forever be one of my favorite series, and I look forward to rereading it all over again in the near future. Here’s hoping Gena surprises me with some updates on all these characters in her Rise of Warlords series.
