ColtI never thought I would end up back in Texas, but when the woman I had a fling with calls to tell me she’s having my baby, I know there is no other place I should be.It doesn’t hurt that I still haven’t stopped thinking about my time with the Texan beauty. My life is thrown into chaos as soon as I arrive. From taking care of Kaitlyn and my son to dealing with the politics of being in another chapter’s territory, I am running in circles. When tragedy strikes, I’m not sure who I can trust anymore, the club I’ve been a part of most of my life or the one my baby mama was born into. All I know is that I’m going to need help from my brothers back home to solve this murder.
KaitlynI always wanted to be a mother, but I never imagined that I would have one with a member of an MC that wasn’t my father’s.Then I met Colt, and we had a fling for the story books. We are thrust together in this adventure in new parenthood, but Colt has more on his mind than just our little family. For once in my life, I want to be a priority, but I know how MC life goes. If the club calls, you answer.Only Colt seems different. At least until there is a murder in his club and all signs point to my father’s. Suddenly I’m in the middle of a war I want nothing to do with, but helpless to stop it.Will I be able to keep the peace between all the important people in my life or will I be forced to choose sides?
Colt is the third installment in Cala Riley’s Lotus MC series. Each book is full of angst, drama, spice, and danger, which is what I love reading in MC Romance. I read the first two books in the series, and I enjoyed them, but Colt’s book may very well be my favorite in the series (so far), and it’s all Cala Riley’s fault. The way they wrote Colt and Kaitlyn’s story made me root for these two the whole time, especially with them being from rival motorcycle clubs and their families not wanting them to be together.
I love reading stories where the characters defy everyone around them and love each other, and that’s precisely what these two characters did, especially when they had a baby together. Yes, this has the Accidental Pregnancy trope, and here is one reader who enjoys reading this trope, especially when you have an MMC like Colt, who is a proud daddy and will do anything for the mama and his baby.
I loved how protective Colt was of Kaitlyn and their baby, and he wouldn’t let anyone hurt them, not even family. Kaitlyn’s father, who is the MC President of the Rival MC, doesn’t want his daughter with Colt due to him being with Lotus MC, but Kaitlyn won’t let her father decide for her. Kaitlyn grew up in the MC world, but she didn’t want to be a part of it, and she never thought she would fall in love with someone in a rival club, but she did. I loved how much of a fighter she was in the story, too, when it came to standing up for herself with her father and her mother.
This book has a lot of drama in it, especially toward the end, and it involves the two Motorcycle clubs in San Antonio and possible traitors amongst them. I loved how the Lotus MC-Las Vegas dropped everything to help Colt when he asked for their help after what happened. Kaitlyn learned right away how different Lotus MC-Las Vegas was compared to her father’s MC.
This book is a 5-star read for me, and I can’t wait to read more in this series. I’m also looking forward to reading the spin-off series to this one. The author duo Cala Riley definitely has a reader for life, and I can’t wait for what they come up with next.
