A shattered past. A forgotten love. And a future rewritten.
It’s been over a year since my world changed forever. After waking up thousands of miles from home, I was forced to start over, guided by scars I didn’t recognize. It hasn’t been easy, especially when life keeps pulling me toward a past I can’t fully grasp.
Now, a twist of fate has brought me back, thrusting me into a world I don’t remember. At college, I run into Ryder—someone who swears he knew me before, someone whose eyes spark a connection I can’t explain. Then there’s Jayson, whose pain and anger cut through me like shards of a forgotten past. And Fallon, the enigmatic playboy who shouldn’t make sense in my new life but somehow does.
They all want pieces of the girl I used to be. But I’m not her anymore.
If life offers you a second chance at love, how hard will you fight for it? My story is far from over—and this time, I’m writing it my way.
This newly revised version of book two in the Fallen Brook series is a second-chance, friends-to-lovers, college romance full of angst and emotion. It has updated content, is told in multiple POVs, and ends on a cliffhanger. Please check for potential TWs in the front matter of the book.
“Everything about this series is addicting.”
—Just One More Chapter

Before diving into Paper Stars Rewritten, it’s essential to have read the first book, All Our Next Times, which is part of the Fallen Brook Trilogy. I should also warn you that Jennilynn Wyer has a knack for leaving her readers with shocking cliffhangers; she did it with the first book of the trilogy, and she certainly does it again in the second. I thought the cliffhanger in the first book was intense, but Jennilynn raises the stakes even higher in this installment.

Jennilynn Wyer picks up where she left off in the first book. The main character, Liz, now has amnesia following the events of book one, which means she doesn’t remember her friends and boyfriend from before the incident. Her best friends, Ryder, Jayson, and Julien have missed Liz dearly and even hired a private investigator to locate her after she went missing from the hospital. When they discover that she is attending college with them, they are determined to reconnect with her. Unfortunately, they learn that she has no memories of them. However, this doesn’t deter them from wanting to support Liz; they understand that they need to be patient, as she is no longer the same person they once knew. It’s going to be a long road for all the characters, and in the meantime, Liz is having nightmares of the person who harmed her and unalived her family, and she knows she’s close to finding out who it is if only she can remember that day.

I don’t want to delve too deeply into the storyline for fear of spoiling it for anyone who hasn’t read the first book. However, I will say that Jennilynn Wyer shocked me at the end of book one, and I was eager to see where the story would lead, especially with Liz having amnesia. I was pleased that Ryder played a major role in Liz’s life in this book. This time, he has a chance with her instead of Jayson. Ryder is such a sweetheart, and I loved that he didn’t pressure Liz; he understood that she wasn’t the same as before. While I may be Team Ryder, that doesn’t mean I don’t like Jayson as well. He has some good qualities, too. He just needs to cool it on controlling things, especially Liz.

This book left me hanging when it came to figuring out who actually hurt Liz. There were hints during her nightmare scenes with the flashbacks, but I’m just as confused as Liz. I need to know who did this to her. Additionally, Jennilynn ended book two with another cliffhanger. This time, Liz seeks help from someone I never expected her to turn to, but I have to remember that she doesn’t recall this person before what happened to her.

I trust Jennilynn Wyer and the direction she’s taking the story. I hope that everyone gets a HEA in the third book, and I also hope Liz discovers who hurt her. Overall, this is another great installment, and I give it four out of five stars. I can’t wait for the third book; I need it like yesterday!

Single/Dual/Multi-POV: Multi POV

Standalone or Part of Series: It’s the second book in the Fallen Brook Trilogy and needs to be read in order.

Would I recommend this book? Yes, if you enjoy angsty New Adult Romance, check out the Fallen Brook Trilogy, but be prepared for shocking cliffhangers.

I guess I should type a bio here. I'm FranJessca, or Fran for short. I'm the owner/reviewer behind A Book Lovin' Mama's Blog. I've been reading and reviewing books on my blog since leaving the Navy in 2011, and I will keep doing it as long as possible. My favorite genres will always be Romance & Fantasy, and I read every subgenre underneath those two genres. (Sorry, not a fan of nonfiction, so don't try to convince me to read it.)
My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
