EvyA new town. A new home. A new beginning. My sight was set straight on my dream of becoming a writer. But all that changed when I met him.Emerson ‘Jayden’ Jameson took my breath away with his blue, blue eyes and stole my heart. Our connection was instant, it was imminent. We fell in magical love while we spent our slow days in the sleepy town of ‘Bellevue.’But our world shifted when school ended. When Jay flew to L.A. to chase his dream of becoming a rockstar. And now we were no longer high school sweethearts madly in love.Because the devil devised another plan for me.Forced me to leave the other half of my soulA choice that made my entire world crumble.Like dominos, everything in my life fell apart after that. And I was reduced to nothing. All because I fell in love.
From Me to You is Book One of the Four Foxes series. This is a prelude to Evy & Jay’s story and will be part of a trilogy. This is not a standalone and ends in a cliffhanger. It is intended for mature audiences, there might be some situations like mental health situations and death that can be uncomfortable for some readers.
If a book features the Rockstar Romance trope, I’ll always want to read it. This is why I couldn’t resist reading From Me To You by Emberlynn Raine. This was the first book I read by this author, and I’m looking forward to reading more works from her, especially after this book stirred my emotions.
Please be aware that if you decide to read this book, there is a cliffhanger at the end. From Me To You serves as a prelude to Evy and Jay’s story, and the next book will continue from where this one concludes. The story is set in high school at the beginning, featuring mature themes, including mental health issues, death, and incidents of violence toward the end.
I enjoyed this book, but it made me frustrated, especially towards the end when certain decisions were made. I had to remind myself that the characters are high school students, and their choices might irritate me as a mom of teenagers. However, I know that for teenagers to learn and grow, they need to make decisions for themselves. I sometimes felt that this book wasn’t meant for me because I was constantly getting upset with the actions of the characters, especially Evy.
However, I tried to put myself in Evy’s shoes. She believed the decisions she was making were what was best for herself and Jay. Evy fell madly in love with Jay when she first met him, and he felt the same way about her. After graduating high school, Evy decides to join Jay and his band in LA while they try to sign with a record label. However, she soon realizes that there is a looming threat over her relationship with him. This leads her to make a choice that ultimately hurts both her and Jay. It broke my heart to witness what happened between them, but Evy was the one who set it in motion because she thought she was doing what was best for Jay. If only she had told him the truth. Jay was someone who would go to great lengths for her.
In the end, this situation will cost Evy not only her relationship with Jay but also her best friends. This book definitely put my emotions through the wringer. I’m curious about how Emberlynn Raine will have Evy, and Jay becomes lovers again after what Evy did to help make Jay’s dreams come true. Overall, I give this book 3.5 stars and would recommend it to readers who enjoy New Adult Romance stories, especially those that are part of a trilogy and end with a cliffhanger.
I’m onto the second book, so I can have my heart ripped to shreds again, but hopefully put back together because I need Evy and Jay to work things out.
