Darling Daffodils Farm is the first book I’ve read by Brittanée Nicole, and if her other books are similar, I’m already excited to read more. This story made me smile, laugh, and even cry. I felt so many emotions that I couldn’t put the book down until I finished. Even now, as I write this review, I’m smiling just thinking about the characters and how much this story meant to me.
I really enjoyed this small town romance. Tally, the FMC, comes home after being away for a long time to help with her father’s daffodil farm. Instead, she finds a handsome farmhand living in her parents’ house, even in her old room, and running her dad’s business. She’s confused and tries to get answers from her mom and sister, but they either won’t tell her or don’t know what’s going on. Jessie Walker, the MMC, never expected to meet Tally since she left and never came back. When he finally meets her, he’s intrigued, even though he knows she’ll make things a bit complicated on the farm, especially with what he is planning to do with the farm.
I don’t want to spoil Tally and Jessie’s story, but I will say that the grumpy cowboy and the talented chef/baker definitely clash at first. Their arguments are both entertaining and sometimes a little frustrating, especially for Jessie, but reading how they come together is so rewarding. I enjoyed the moments when they annoyed each other just as much as the times they gave in to their attraction. Things get pretty steamy between them. They’re total opposites, but they fit together perfectly in the end.
However, Jessie is keeping a secret from Tally, and although he wants to tell her, I understand why he doesn’t. The secret isn’t really his to share. Someone else should have told her from the start. This had to be the most frustrating part in the book, but it does add some drama.
I loved the secondary characters in this book and can’t wait to read more from this series. This story is emotional, so you might want to have some tissues nearby.
Overall, this was a fantastic read. I give it 4.5 stars, and I’m glad I discovered a new author to follow.
POV: Dual POV (First Person)
Would I recommend this book? Absolutely. If you like small town romances set on a flower farm, with a grumpy but charming cowboy (even if Jessie might not agree with the cowboy label) and a chef/baker who starts out as a pain at first but becomes his love interest, you should add this book to your reading list.
