It's been years since her child's father dumped her, and since then Kara McMillan has kept men at bay - although every day she aches more for a lover's touch. But to get that, the hard-boiled journalist must become vulnerable - a feeling she vowed never to have again.
With his dangerous good looks, charm, and power, Senator Reece Sheridan could have just about any woman he sets his piercing eyes on. But he's intrigued by only one. This Kara, this gutsy investigative reporter, has a sensuality that arouses him to no end. If she's a firebrand in print, he guesses, she must be just as fiery in bed...
But this is no fling. A sudden political scandal - and attempts on Kara's life - could very well drive them apart. Or maybe, just maybe, adversity could draw them into a bond even more intense than their steamy sexual embraces.

I’ve been meaning to pick up a Pamela Clare book for a while now, and I’m frustrated with myself for waiting so long. As soon as I started Extreme Exposure, the first book in her I-Team series, I found it hard to put down. The gripping storyline and compelling characters immediately pulled me in. I love strong heroines, and Kara is one of them, a determined investigative journalist determined to uncover a political scandal, even if it puts her life in danger. Fortunately, a certain Senator is not only intrigued by Kara but is also determined to protect her at all costs and win her heart. However, he may actually be connected to the very political scandal she is investigating.

This book features a great mix of suspense, romance, mystery, and humor. Both main characters are unforgettable and lovable. Their chemistry is instant and explosive, but their jobs create a sense of forbidden attraction that makes the story even more intriguing.

As the first book in the I-Team series, it sets the stage for the rest and introduces other key characters.

One of my favorite aspects of this book was Kara’s character and how often she stood up to her boss. He was difficult, and she needed to put him in his place more than once. Fortunately, he improved by the end, even though Kara still faced danger.

Overall, this is a great start to the series, I give it 4.5 stars and look forward to reading the rest. I can’t believe I waited so long for my first Pamela Clare book, but I’m glad I finally did.

Favorite Book Quotes:

“She had just pulled her dress coat from it’s hanger when Connor came bouncing out of her bedroom and down the hallway with something in his hand.
“Mommy, what’s this jiggle stick?”
She looked up to see her son standing not two feet away from Reece with her purple jelly vibrator in his hand. And he was shaking it, making it waggle back and forth.”

“You need a man, Kara. A man you can open up to. A man whose passion for life matches yours. A man who grabs your hair in big fistfuls and twists and pulls it when he’s fucking you. A man willing to walk wire for you.”

“I think you need someone in your life you can depend on, someone you can confide in when things go to hell at work, someone to massage your tired feet and your stiff shoulders, someone to bring you tea and cook a meal once
in a while. Someone to be there for you.”

I guess I should type a bio here. I'm FranJessca, or Fran for short. I'm the owner/reviewer behind A Book Lovin' Mama's Blog. I've been reading and reviewing books on my blog since leaving the Navy in 2011, and I will keep doing it as long as possible. My favorite genres will always be Romance & Fantasy, and I read every subgenre underneath those two genres. (Sorry, not a fan of nonfiction, so don't try to convince me to read it.)
My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
