What he doesn’t need is a woman to complicate things. Especially one with more baggage than the train station. But there’s something about Scarlett Bridgestone he can’t shake. He knows if they start something up it will get messy. So why can’t he stay away?
Piece of Me is the second installment in Juliana Stone’s The Bridgestones of Montana series, and just like the first book, I had a hard time putting it down. The first chapter alone already gripped me into the story, especially with how the characters initially met. The way the FMC, Scarlett Bridgestone, handled her first encounter with the MMC, Taz Pullman, not only left an impression on him but made it a memorable scene in a book I’ll never forget. She definitely didn’t care what the small town thought of her, which is why I loved her immediately.
Both main characters are single parents; the MMC Taz is taking care of his sister’s twin girls, while the FMC just had a baby and is back in her small town starting over. They never thought they would find love, especially when one is considered a player with the ladies, and the other doesn’t want to be in a relationship after her last one left her without any explanation with a baby to take care of, but destiny has a way of changing that for these two, and I was here for their HEA.
I always enjoy reading a romance book in which both characters aren’t looking for love but end up finding it with one another, and that’s exactly what happened in Piece of Love. I was a little leery with the MMC, Taz, since he was a player, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much he changed his ways with Scarlett. I loved the scenes with him taking care of his daughters, and even when he had moments with Scarlett and her son, Hank. No wonder why Scarlett had trouble staying away from Taz.
There is a breakup scene between the characters towards the end, but rest assured, it gets resolved pretty quickly. One of them takes care of the issue that is trying to break them a part in the best possible way.
Like the first book, this one gets five stars because it was another book that was hard to put down, and I’ll be thinking about it for a while. I loved the main characters and the secondary characters and look forward to reading more books in the series. Thank goodness, I already have the third book purchased so that I can start it soon. =)
