A string of brutal murders is leaving a grisly trail across the Pacific Northwest—and drawing rising star FBI profiler Laurel Snow back into a treacherous case and a twisted personal drama she can’t escape . . .
The first body is torn apart, blood and flesh discovered across both state and federal lands. As the victims multiply, a pattern emerges—each is related to past cases investigated by Laurel Snow, with the assist of Huck Rivers, Washington Fish and Wildlife captain. When friends and loved ones are targeted, things become even more chillingly personal.
As Laurel and Huck team up again to navigate the gruesome and increasingly bizarre killings, they must also keep a safe distance from Laurel’s half-sister, Abigail, a dangerously clever sociopath. Ever since their father reappeared in town, Abigail has been convinced she must protect Laurel from his malignant narcissism—a scourge she’s sure they’ve both inherited. Huck is not spared either as a shocking development in the case touches his own life.
With the murders, and the suspects, multiplying around them, and the lives of everyone in their orbit at stake, only Laurel’s sharp analytic skills, Huck’s deep gut instincts, and their growing bond will enable them to face the demons within and the threats without—before they’re next on an elusive killer’s hit list . . .

You Can Kill is the fourth installment in Rebecca Zanetti’s Laurel Snow series. When I’m not reading romance, I love Mysteries and Thrillers, and the Laurel Snow series became an instant favorite after I borrowed the first book via Libby. If you haven’t read the first three books, I highly recommend you do, since the storylines continue in each one. I’ll try not to spoil anything in my review, but I can’t make any promises, so consider this your warning before you read on.

Once again, Rebecca Zanetti gripped me with the storyline in You Can Kill, and what the main characters faced. Laurel Snow is dealing with more brutal murders in her small town, and with the help of Huck Rivers, Washington Fish and Wildlife captain, they are determined to finally catch the killer. The problem is that this time, there may be more than one suspect, including the serial killer they just put away, who escapes and now targets not only Laurel but also her half-sister. This puts not only Huck Rivers on high alert to protect Laurel from not only the serial killer, but also other threats too. The issue is that both may be taken off the case soon, especially when one of the victims ends up being someone they know, and not only that, but one will become a suspect.

This book was a wild ride full of twists and turns for the characters. Here I thought I had it figured out until Rebecca threw me a bigger twist that I wasn’t expecting. One thing I’m enjoying is that this book is told in Multi-POV, so you’re not just getting Laurel’s POV. You’re getting a wider range of characters and what is going on.

One thing I enjoy about this series is its strong female lead. Laurel Snow is highly intelligent, and I just love her character. She may have done some questionable things in this book, putting herself at risk even when Huck wants her to take it easy, but she is more determined than ever to figure out who is behind the murders.

I also love Huck’s character, even when he’s become overbearing and protective of Laurel, but there is a reason. When he’s suspected of being the killer, I wasn’t too happy because here is one reader who couldn’t believe he would hurt anyone, unless it was absolutely necessary. (like hurt Laurel)

I will warn you that the book gets emotional toward the end, and it impacts Laurel and Huck. I felt for both of them, especially after everything Laurel endured with a certain someone who was supposed to be family.

This book ends in a cliffhanger, and it’s a big one, at least for me. It was predictable what would happen, especially after what happened to Laurel, but it still kept me on the edge of my seat. Now, I’m curious what will happen to this person, because there is no way they can get away with what they did, but knowing this character, they’ll probably get out of it. At least the serial killer case will be closed, but I know Laurel and Huck won’t have it easy for what’s to come in the next book, which I can’t wait to read.

Overall, another great installment in the Laurel Snow series, and I give it four stars. Here’s hoping eventually, Laurel and Huck can catch a break because after what happened in this book, they need some time for themselves.

Would I recommend this book/series? Yes. If you are looking for a suspenseful and drama-filled Thriller where there are serial killers on the loose in a small town and a strong female lead that is determined to put them away, then check out the Laurel Snow series by Rebecca Zanetti.
