In the small town of Fallen Brook, love was supposed to be simple. Until she fell for her two best friends.
They say every love story has a beginning. If that’s the case, then mine started when I was nine years old. Jayson, Ryder, and I grew up together. We were inseparable, bound by a friendship that felt unbreakable. They were my family, my constants—my forevers.
As we grew older, our feelings deepened into something more. What was once simple became tangled with emotions we couldn’t ignore, and somewhere along the way, our friendships became…complicated.
Falling in love with your best friend is hard enough. Falling in love with two of them? It has disaster written all over it.
One man will hold my heart. But the other will never let me go.
This newly revised version of book one in the Fallen Brook series is a small-town, friends-to-lovers, new adult romance full of angst and emotion. It has new content, is told in multiple POVs, and ends with a shocking cliffhanger. Please check for potential TWs in the front matter of the book.
“…pages filled with betrayal, lies of omission, and secrets, All Our Next Times makes for some very compulsive reading.” —LL Meyer, author of the Worlds Collide series
All Our Next Times is the first book I’ve read by author Jennilynn Wyer, and it certainly won’t be my last, especially after that cliffhanger! How could Jennilynn Wyer leave me hanging like that? I need the second book like yesterday.
I was nervous to start this book because I knew it involved a love triangle, and it has been a long time since I’ve read that trope, possibly since the Twilight Books Era. It’s not that I dislike love triangles; in fact, I actually enjoy them. The challenge for me lies in choosing between the MMCs, especially when the author makes both of them so lovable. This is certainly the case with All Our Next Times. As a reader, I really sympathized with the FMC, Elizabeth, who had to make a tough decision between two childhood best friends, Jaysen and Ryder, both of whom held her heart. There’s no way I could have made that choice like she did back in high school.
I loved how Jennilynn Wyer structured the story where she had the FMC, Elizabeth, initially meeting the twins when she was much younger and later her introduction to Ryder. I also appreciated that Jennilynn provided us with the POVs of all the characters. It was clear that this friend group felt like a family throughout the book. However, as they grew older, romantic feelings began to develop, leading to two of the boys falling in love with Elizabeth. This situation inevitably brought drama into their friendship.
I felt for Elizabeth as she found herself caught in the middle of it all. She cared for each of them and had her crushes on the guys, but she didn’t want to disrupt the group’s dynamics. Unfortunately, the tension was unavoidable, especially since one of the MMCs was more determined than ever to be Elizabeth’s first love.
This book is sure to take you on an emotional rollercoaster; I know it did for me. There’s plenty of drama not only within the friend group at first, which they navigate in their own unique ways but also outside of it. I found the jealous OW particularly hard to endure, but I managed to push through. I reminded myself that the characters are in high school, and they will be put through tests that will challenge them. They were there for one another, though.
Expect a lot of partying, complete with alcohol and drugs, while they are at parties. The story features trust issues, betrayals among friends, and heartbreak, amongst so many other things. To top it all off, there’s a major cliffhanger at the end that I truly didn’t see coming. Jennilynn really threw me for a loop with that twist! Now, I need book two immediately to find out if this friend group will achieve their happily ever after and who will end up with Elizabeth.
Overall, this was a fantastic installment, and I’m giving it 4.5 stars. I’m really glad I read this book because now I have no excuse not to explore other works by Jennilynn Wyer. In fact, while I wait for the second book, I plan to check out Jennilynn’s backlist. I definitely want to read more from this author.
Single/Dual/Multi POV: Multi-POV
