The second book in the international bestselling Maxton Hall series—now an Amazon Prime streaming series—in English for the first time.
After all the hurt between them, will they be able to find their way back to each other?
Ruby Bell thought that she and James Beaufort had something special. She’s never had such strong feelings for someone. And after his betrayal, she’s also never felt this much hurt. Ruby just wants her old life back before she knew anyone at Maxton Hall, before she knew James. She used to be able to rely on her studies to keep her focused, but school is no longer a refuge—not when she sees James everywhere. But she has to stay on track, especially with university looming over them and the uncertainty of what the future holds.
Despite everything, Ruby wants to support James as he struggles with his father’s expectations of him taking over the family business. But she makes one thing very clear: she is not willing to forgive him or give him a second chance. As love and hate compete for Ruby's heart, James will try everything he can to win her back.
Save You is the second installment in Mona Kasten’s Maxton Hall series. After the intense cliffhanger in Save Me that left me angry with James, I was relieved that this book picks up immediately where the last one ended. Although it starts slowly, the progression kept me invested, and it’s worth it, even though my only complaint is that there is another brutal cliffhanger that leaves me sympathizing once again with Ruby. It seems she can’t catch a break since James entered her life.
I won’t share spoilers, but readers should know the book is worth picking up, especially since James and Ruby attempt to repair their relationship after James’s actions. James’s behavior is understandable given his loss, and Ruby’s initial reluctance is valid. Their journey involves working through some emotional hurdles apart and together. James also faces issues with his friends, who feel like they are being left out.
Not only do readers get James and Ruby’s POVs, but Mona Kasten also includes Lydia (James’ sister) and Ember (Ruby’s sister) POV. They’re essential to James and Ruby’s story and will have their own stories, too, that need to be told. I loved getting to know Lydia and Ember and can’t wait to read more of their POV in the next book.
Overall, this is a great read. I give it four stars and am glad Maxton Hall was translated into English, as I was determined to read this series. I might even learn German to read Mona Kasten’s other books after finishing this trilogy. If you enjoy angsty New Adult Romance where enemies become lovers, check out the Maxton Hall trilogy and be sure to watch the TV show on Amazon Prime. I’m looking forward to Season 2 this fall. =)
What to Expect:
✔️Enemies to Lovers
✔️Slow Burn Romance After Betrayal
✔️Second Chance Romance
✔️Angsty
✔️Multiple POVs

My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
