Hard Rain Coming is the third installment in Juliana Stone’s The Bridgestones of Montana series. Vivian and Dallas’s Second Chance Romance put me through the wringer, and it was so worth it in the end. I love stories like this one that make me go through so many emotions, and Juliana had me smiling, laughing, fuming, and even crying. Vivian and Dallas’s love story is not an easy one, so prepare yourself before reading this book because, after fifteen years of not seeing each other, they have some things they need to work out, and secrets need to come out finally.
Fair warning: you may not like Dallas much at first. I know he drove me crazy in the beginning with his growly, disrespectful self, especially with how he treated not only Viv but everyone really. Once I read his POV, I understood why he was the way he was. The guy had no clue why Viv left him fifteen years ago, even though he didn’t make it easy for her back then with his young, bull-headed self. Yes, he’s a player and will mess around with another woman on the page before he is back with the FMC, but they have been out of each other’s lives for fifteen years. The FMC has also been with other men within that timeframe. When he finds out the truth about what happened years ago, he’s going to do a 360 in the book. Dallas will do anything to be with the one woman he’s always loved. This man stepped up for Viv in the end, and he redeemed himself. I love a MMC who ends up realizing how much he messed up.
Vivian always considered herself the black sheep of the family, never feeling loved or wanted, and Dallas didn’t help with what he did to her years ago, but she never stopped thinking about him. The waterworks came when I found out what happened fifteen years ago with her and why she was ready to finally tell the truth, not only with Dallas but with her family, too. In my opinion, she was such a strong character for not only learning how to forgive herself but also others who did her wrong. She also was able to handle Dallas whenever he was being difficult with her.
One thing with Dallas and Viv’s story is that when they were younger they were going through a lot and didn’t understand how to love really. They always told each other and were told by others that they were wrong for one another. However, once they worked through their issues and secrets were revealed, it became clear that these two were always meant to be together. I love a second chance story, and this one was well done, even if it put me through so much. I could only imagine what Juliana experienced while writing it.
Any book like this one that has my emotions going haywire is a five-star read. This series has definitely become a favorite of mine and I look forward to reading Ivy and Mike’s story next.
