I’m not looking for love. I’m definitely not even interested in dating. But when I first see the handsome stranger singing on stage and our eyes lock, it feels like kismet. For seven blissful days, we fall into an intoxicating romance. Until one night when I learn just how forbidden we are…
Delayed Satisfaction is a short prequel of Malone and Sloane’s meet-cute romance story, but it only satisfies you briefly, hence the book’s title. Don’t worry, Satisfaction Guaranteed is the next book in the series, and it’s a full-length novel that continues Malone and Sloane’s instant-love connection.
Storyline/My Thoughts: The prequel is about how the MCs met and how they have seven happy days of spending time with each other and getting to know one another. It ends abruptly without them getting too intimate when both realize that their romantic story can’t happen due to it being forbidden. The issue is one of them ends it, and the other doesn’t want it to end. Now, I have to know what happens in the full-length novel, which is why I’m listening to it next on my TBR. I have to know if these will have a HEA.
One thing I love about Lauren Blakely and her stories is that I can listen to them on audiobooks, and she has terrific narrators that bring her stories to life. Andi Arndt and Jason Clarke are the narrators for this prequel, and I loved them for the MCs.
I give the prequel three stars, but that’s because it is so short, and I need more. Also, it’s due to a particular MC choosing to end things abruptly between the two characters that made me furious. Not naming any names so I don’t spoil the prequel for anyone wanting to read it. There’s also the instant love, which I’m sometimes not a fan of in romance stories, but Lauren Blakely tends to convince me later that sometimes instant love is where it is in contemporary romance. I did enjoy that the characters were getting to know one another. Now, I have to know what happens in the full-length novel, which is why I’m listening to it next on my TBR. I have to know if these two will have a HEA.
Standalone or Part of Series: It’s the prequel to the Always Satisfied series and introduces the characters from the first full-length novel, Satisfaction Guaranteed.
Steam/Spice: 🌶
Genre/SubGenre(s)/Trope(s)/Element(s): Romance. Contemporary Romance. Meet Cute Romance. Boss’s Daughter Romance. Instant Love.
Would I recommend this novella? Yes. I recommend this prequel to readers who have read Lauren Blakely’s other books and love the Contemporary Romance subgenre.
