When club-hopping bad girl Tiara Kent is found dead in her plush Manhattan apartment, the killing has all the earmarks of a vampire attack. The ever-practical Lieutenant Eve Dallas has to deal with superstitious cops carrying garlic and stakes, as well as the ever-hysterical press. None of the wealthy young victim's friends seem to know much about the Dark Prince she has been secretly seeing. The chase to stop him before he kills again will lead Eve and her team into areas of the city that not even the most intrepid cop wants to visit, and into the very heart of darkness.
Eternity in Death is a quick novella to read in the In Death series by J.D. Robb, especially if you listen to it at 2.5x on audio while taking care of things. Yes, I listen to this series because Susan Ericksen is a fantastic narrator who brings all the characters and stories to life, especially with different accents. I highly recommend the audiobooks to the In Death series if you are an audio lover.
Eternity in Death had a touch of paranormal to it with the case that Eve took on this time. Eve is having to track down a possible killer who is targeting women by leaving punctured marks on their necks like vampires would do. She knows vampires are not real, but her fellow cops don’t, and they start carrying stakes and garlic whenever they search for the killer.
This novella was not only full of suspense but also funny due to how Eve reacts to Peabody and everyone’s fear of a potential killer who acts like a vampire. One of the many reasons why I love this series is how J.D. Robb manages to write different cases for the characters to solve. Each one is action-packed and full of suspense, and she even throws in funny moments. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series. I’m determined to catch up on this series, eventually.
