These men don't build bridges... They bury bodies.
I've been running for ten years - fleeing my past and clawing my way toward an inescapable act of vengeance. Finally, I can taste revenge on the tip of my tongue.
Then he walks into my life, cold, dark, and full of secrets. His possessive touch dilutes my thirst for retribution. His aggressive confidence obliterates my need for solitude. It's impossible not to become consumed by him...Until I find out who he really is.
I fell for a criminal. A murderer.A man from the underworld who was not only sent to stop me from achieving my goal, but to end my life.
It’s been a while since I read a book by Eden Summers, and I plan to change that this year, especially since I’m already familiar with her writing style. She made me fall in love with her Rockstar Romance series, Reckless Beat, and I still think about those books years later. I’m convinced I will have a similar experience with the Hunting Her series, which is darker, filled with suspense, and packed with excitement.
I quickly finished the first book in the series, Hunter, especially since I listened to the audiobook while running errands and doing chores around the house. The heroine, Steph (who uses different names throughout the book for a significant reason), captivated me right from the first chapter with her actions. She is on a mission to hunt down bad men and pursue them in her unique way. Additionally, she is searching for the man who murdered her family, and she is determined to find him. During her time, she meets a man at a bar and nearly shares a brief moment with him, but she soon realizes that he may not be who he claims to be.
Why didn’t I read this book sooner? It was exactly what I needed to prevent a slump in my reading. Eden created a heroine, Steph, who I immediately loved; she was a kickbutt character, which is exactly what I enjoy in stories. Although she found herself in difficult situations, she always managed to get herself out of them. I also appreciated that Eden provided the male main character’s point of view. Hunter was sent to deal with Steph, but he found himself attracted to her and ended up going against his original intentions. I love it when the main characters deviate from their original plans.
The banter and chemistry between Steph and Hunter were incredible. It felt like they were either going to clash or end up in bed together, and I was captivated by every moment of their back-and-forth exchanges. The story’s suspense revolved around Steph seeking revenge, but it took her a while to execute her plans because Hunter constantly distracted her. Additionally, there was the complication of someone else pursuing her. In the end, however, she manages to get her revenge and also achieves a happily ever after with Hunter.
Another thing I loved about this book is how Eden introduced other key characters that will get their books, too, in the series. I can’t wait to read their books.
Overall, a great start to the Hunting Her series, and I give it four stars. I can’t believe it took me this long to read it.
Single/Dual POV: Dual POV.
