#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR FIRST TIME IN PAPERBACK
View our feature on J.D. Robb’s Strangers in Death. In 2060 New York, Lieutenant Eve Dallas is about to discover how the ties that bind strangers can kill.
Technology may be different in 2060 New York, yet the city is still a place of many cultures and great divides. But as ever, some murders receive more attention than others—especially those in which the victim is a prominent businessman, found in his Park Avenue apartment, tied to the bed—and strangled—with cords of black velvet.
It doesn't surprise Lieutenant Eve Dallas that Thomas Anders's scandalous death is a source of titillation and speculation to the public—and of humiliation to his family. But while people in the city are talking about it, those close to Anders aren't so anxious to do the same. With some help from her billionaire husband, Roarke, Eve's soon knocking on doors—or barging through them—to find answers.
But the facts don't add up. Physical evidence suggests that the victim didn't struggle. The security breach in the apartment indicates that the killer was someone known to the family, but everyone's alibi checks out. Was this a crime of passion in a kinky game gone wrong—or a meticulously planned execution? It's up to Dallas to solve a case in which strangers may be connected in unexpected, and deadly, ways.

Strangers in Death is the twenty-sixth installment in J.D. Robb’s In Death series. (Yes, there are a lot of books in the series, but it’s so worth it.) This time, Eve Dallas investigates a case in which a wealthy businessman is found dead in his bed in an unusual way.

Everyone’s alibi checks out, even the wife’s, who was off in the tropics with some friends. Eve knows something doesn’t add up, though, and is determined to catch who murdered the man with the help of her team and her husband, Roarke.

I enjoyed this installment, with all the twists and turns from the beginning and how Eve wasn’t going to give up on finding out who murdered the wealthy businessman whose family is well-known. Eve already had a suspect early on, but not everyone agreed with her due to the alibi issue. I actually agreed with Eve on who was behind it all, and was curious how she was going to prove it. One thing that Eve does well is how she’ll never give up, which is why she’s one of my favorite heroines in a Romantic Suspense series.

Once again, Roarke plays a significant role in this book with Eve. He makes sure that Eve is taking care of herself while working on the case, and he helps her, too, on the case. He also reminded her how much he adores and loves her and doesn’t like when someone questions their relationship, including Eve. This is why Roarke and Eve are my favorite couple in a series. I love these two together.

J.D. Robb is an author who has become an auto-buy author for me. I’m still amazed with each book how she keeps up with everything, especially all the different cases that Eve and her team have to solve. I love not only the main characters but the side characters, too, who definitely have become family. I give this book four stars, and I can’t wait to read the next installment in the series.

If you enjoy Romantic Suspense, check out this series by J.D. Robb. Don’t let the number of books in it intimidate you. It’s worth reading.

I guess I should type a bio here. I'm FranJessca, or Fran for short. I'm the owner/reviewer behind A Book Lovin' Mama's Blog. I've been reading and reviewing books on my blog since leaving the Navy in 2011, and I will keep doing it as long as possible. My favorite genres will always be Romance & Fantasy, and I read every subgenre underneath those two genres. (Sorry, not a fan of nonfiction, so don't try to convince me to read it.)
My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
