Knox Whiteshaw is my husband.
He’s also an egotistical psychopath who refuses to divorce me—even when I ask nicely.
It doesn’t matter that I’m trying to move on with the goalie of his NHL team. Knox is dead set on ruining everything.
My upcoming wedding, my future, my sanity…
The man can hold a grudge like no other, and I am public enemy number one. I have been for six years, ever since he threatened me and stormed out of my life.
Now that we’re forced back in each others’ lives, it’s only a matter of who will break first: him or me.
It’s been a few days since I finished reading Fierce Obsession. I had to process my thoughts and emotions before typing up my review because I had to remember this is the last book in S. Massery’s Hockey Gods series. I’m not okay with it being the last, but I know S. Massery is setting her readers up for another Hockey Romance series that we will fall in love with, too. I’m just in my emotions because I’m going to miss all five of these overly possessive, protective, unhinged hockey players, including Knox Whiteshaw.
First off, Knox Whiteshaw is one hockey player I didn’t like originally. I despised this man with every fiber of my being. What he did to Willow was unforgivable, and I still don’t like him for it. But everyone deserves a chance to tell their side of things and have a redemption story. I trusted S. Massery would give us a back story on Knox on why he was the way he was in the previous books. He was trying to redeem himself through Jacob and Melody’s book, but I needed to be more convinced he wasn’t an a-hole always in life.
I was shocked that Knox was married and for a long time too. This didn’t win him over for me, though, because here he was messing around with other women when he was technically married. He ends up reuniting with the FMC, and she wants a divorce, but of course, he’s being difficult. The whole reason why he wants to stay married and make her miserable is crazy, but the FMC is going to make his life just as difficult.
I knew immediately, once I was introduced to the FMC, Aurora McGovern, that I was going to enjoy Fierce Obsession. She made the book for me because she knew how to handle Knox. The way she did it, too, was friggin’ epic. She was not someone who would take his nonsense, and she had the best comebacks whenever he tried anything with her. She was a badass, and I loved her character. (Warning: I may mention how much I love her several times in my review because I can’t just get over her.) Aurora had learned that life throws you curveballs, but she learned how to dodge them and take care of herself. Once, again, another reason I loved her character. She had an emotional backstory, and it involved Knox, and this is when Knox redeemed himself, and I understood him a lot better.
I’m being vague with the story because since it’s the last book, I don’t want to spoil it for anyone; just have tissues on hand and prepare yourself for an emotional roller-coaster of a book. I had a hard time putting down Knox and Aurora’s story, not only due to their history with one another but also due to the danger Aurora was in this book and how Knox was going to put aside his feelings to protect her.
I’m so glad I found S. Massery and this series back in 2022. I fell hard for these Hockey Gods, and I loved the FMCs they all ended up in the series. Each character holds a place in my heart, and I’m going to miss them. Thankfully, I have all these books, so I can always reread them. Will Knox be a favorite, though? He comes close to second, but I’m still holding grudges for what he did in the series. I know Aurora is the perfect person to keep him in line now, and I loved their chemistry.
I’m looking forward to S. Massery’s next hockey romance adventure, especially when she gives us hints in this book what’s to come. Bring on more hockey romance with unhinged hockey players.

Standalone or Part of Series: It’s part of the Hockey Gods series, and each could be read as a standalone. I would recommend reading them in order, though. Trust me, it’s a better reading experience to start from the beginning.
Would I recommend this book/series? Yes. I recommend this series to readers who are forever in their Dark Romance/Hockey Romance Era and love unhinged, OTT, Jealous/Possessive MMCs.

My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
