My name is Melody Cameron… Or so I’ve been told.
When I wake up in the hospital with no memories, I’m shipped off to Denver to live with a distant cousin who knows nothing about me. If family can’t help me remember my past, who will?
I don’t expect it to be a gorgeous hockey player ten years younger than me. He knows things about me he has no right to know.
Yet, he still keeps secrets. He makes me work for every answer while he unlocks my desire—and fear.
Still. I’m blind. Naive.
And when his twisted obsession becomes apparent, it’s too late. For both of us.
First off, I recommend everyone read the prequel before diving into Twisted Obsession. You will get a quick read into when Jacob became obsessed with Melody and what is to come in the full-length novel for these two characters.
The full-length novel picks up two years later, and Jacob is no longer at Crown Point University; he’s now a professional hockey player playing for a team in Colorado. He ends up spotting Melody at one of his games, and when he confronts her, he realizes she doesn’t remember him. Melody suffers from amnesia after a horrible accident that had her in the hospital, and she’s living with her cousin and his wife in Colorado. Her cousin doesn’t remember anything about her life, so she’s hoping Jacob can assist her with her memories. Jacob takes this as an advantage to win over Melody due to her having amnesia, but he’ll make her work for those memories. He’s curious, though, about what happened to her and will do anything to find out the truth about what happened, even if he’s at risk of her running again, which he won’t let happen because he’s way too obsessed to let her go.
I’m going to keep saying it, S. Massery knows how to write the most unhinged MMCs in her romance stories, and I’m all for it because they are fictional. Jacob is every bit a walking red flag, and if he were a real person, he would land himself in jail for what he did to Melody in the prequel and this book, but since he’s fictional, we’ll ignore those flags. I loved Jacob in this book because of his deranged and twisted ways of getting with Melody. This man did some f**ked up stuff to Melody, but you’ll have to read the book to find out what those things are because I’m not spoiling it. Yes, there’s smut in this book, and Jacob is all about worshipping Melody, even if she’s not aware of it.
I adored Melody too and felt for her, especially with her trying to figure out who she was before her accident. She was determined to find out the truth, even if the truth was going to end up probably having her run from the people that she had learned to trust. She was a fighter, and I loved how she fought with Jacob, even though he tended to win. The chemistry between her and Jacob may have been forbidden at first, but in the end, these two were always meant to test each other and be with one another.
The storyline in this one is what had me hooked, and not just the characters. I loved both characters and could easily have my review all about Jacob and Melody. My focus was on finding out what happened to Melody and wanting her to find out the truth. I was not expecting the dang plot twist, though, and who was behind everything. That was all kinds of messed up.
In the end, though, Melody got a very well-deserved HEA with Jacob, even if he was unhinged at times. But we love an unhinged, morally grey MMC, like Jacob, especially when S. Massery writes them.
Another 5-star read from S. Massery, and I’m so glad I was introduced to S. Massery and her books last year.
Now, I’m anxiously waiting for Knox and his book because there are hints on what is going to happen in his book, which is next. I thought Knox couldn’t redeem himself with me because I didn’t like him in Mile’s book, but he may have won me over with how he treated Melody in this book. S. Massery, I’m so ready for Knox’s book. =)
