They call him Umbrella Man because he makes it rain blood. He wants to play with Lilah Love. What he doesn't know is that Lilah is a killer too, and games just piss her off.
The conclusion to the second duet in the Lilah Love series. Love Kills concludes where Love Me Dead left off.
Love Kills is the fourth novel in Lisa Renee Jones’s Lilah Love series, and it presents another action-packed mystery centered around identifying a serial killer. The story picks up right where the third book left off, and I was just as eager as Lilah Love to uncover the identity of the Umbrella Man, especially since he or she is targeting Lilah. The killer doesn’t realize that Lilah is similar to them, shaped by her past, and she will do anything to bring them to justice.
I was excited to reconnect with Lilah and Kane, as they have incredible chemistry. I understand why Lilah is reluctant to commit to Kane fully, considering his family’s history and her role as an FBI profiler. However, Kane is determined not to let her slip away this time. He is more committed than ever to marrying her, even as they both face the threat of a serial killer targeting them and possibly someone else.
I don’t want to reveal too much about the story but be prepared for a shocking twist regarding who is actually behind the killings. I was stunned to discover that it was someone Lilah knew very well. Lilah has become a favorite heroine because she refuses to let anyone get to her, not even the Society that harmed her years ago, and continues to try to make her life difficult, especially when they want her father to run for President in the near future. Lilah is resolute in her fight against the Society, aware of the risks involved. However, with Kane by her side, she knows he will go to any lengths to protect her, even if it sometimes means saving her from herself.
Overall, this was another great installment from Lisa Renee Jones, and I give it four stars. I’m grateful that Lisa decided to continue this series, and I look forward to catching up since I’m quite far behind. I really hope that Lilah gets her revenge against the Society in the upcoming books and eventually finds her happily ever after with Kane. She truly deserves it.
