Clover Deering is living her best life. Kind of. Maybe. Okay, so, not at all. The owner of Fur-Ever Pet Spa is deeply in debt and battling a temper that scares even herself. Things go from bad to catastrophe when a terrifying man claiming to be a berserker king demands an impossible force a rival royal to welcome evil into his heart. In exchange, he'll gift her with a prize she cannot resist-meeting the twin she never knew existed. The problem? King Viktor Endris isn't just scary, he's downright feral.
When captured by Viktor, Clover enacts her own plan. Tame the unhinged warrior, turn him into an ally, and use him to rescue her sister. Not an easy task as Viktor is at war with ferocious turul-shifters, talks to an invisible friend and flips from controlled to chaos in an instant. As their undeniable connection deepens, she discovers a heartbreaking truth. Falling for her is Viktor's only path to ruin. Yet without his downfall, her twin's fate is sealed. The worst part? Clover just might be falling for him, too. But in the end, only one can survive. Her man, or her sister.
The Stolen Bride is the second book in the Kings of Fury series by Gena Showalter and Jill Monroe. Just like the first installment, I absolutely loved this one as well. I found it hard to put down, and whenever I had to take care of real-life responsibilities, I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen next in The Stolen Bride.
The story is told solely by the heroine, Clover Deering, who is a delightful character to get to know. I appreciated her resilience as she navigates being kidnapped and brought to a world where she must deal with a grumpy berserker king named Victor Endris. The banter between Clover and Victor had me laughing out loud. This humorous dynamic is typical of Gena and Jill’s books, which is why I can’t get enough of either of these authors’ books.
The sweet romance between Clover and Victor develops slowly because Victor is a grumpy and stubborn berserker who struggles to accept that Clover might be his firebrand. Their relationship is complicated by outside interference. I don’t want to spoil the storyline, as it’s one that everyone should experience for themselves. Just know that you’ll embark on an adventure with these characters, who initially don’t trust each other.
I loved the world-building, storyline, and characters in this book, and I can’t wait for the next book. I’m eager to learn more about the berserkers and their romantic interests. No matter what, I know Gena and Jill will captivate me with their books; I can’t get enough of them.
Would I recommend his book/series? Yes. If you enjoy reading adventurous and sweet paranormal romance stories about berserkers, then check out this series by Gena and Jill.

My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
