She walked away once.
When Kathryn Irish realized that she and Daniel were too different—and that he thought she was after him for his money—she ended things. When a job randomly puts her back on his radar, they hesitantly form a truce. But deep down she knows she can never be just friends with him. She’ll always want more.
He never should have let her go.
Daniel MacArthur knows he made the biggest mistake of his life in letting Kathryn walk away. When she suddenly appears back in his life, it’s not a moment too soon—since she’s been targeted twice by a faceless enemy. She thinks the two attacks are random. But he’s not so sure. Is it because of her job? Or is something more sinister at play?
Length: NOVELLA
Falling for Irish, the first novella in Katie Reus’s MacArthur series, was a quick and delightful read. I found myself immersed in the story and characters, and I’m already looking forward to reading the rest of the series. This was my first Romantic Suspense book from Katie since I’ve read her Paranormal Romance books before, and I can’t wait to read more from this subgenre from her now after reading this novella.
I enjoy reading the second-chance romance trope, and Katie Reus did a superb job of making the two main characters, Kathryn Irish and Daniel MacArthur, realize they were perfect for one another. They just needed to address the big misunderstanding that caused them to break up in the first place.
I loved how Kathryn and Daniel ended up reuniting two months after their breakup because Kathryn’s job has her at Daniel’s company. She’s undercover testing his security system for vulnerabilities, and she doesn’t want to risk running into him, but she does, and Daniel makes it known he’s never gotten over her. I love an MMC, like Daniel, who is determined to win back the FMC, and Daniel proves it in this novella, especially when Kathryn is in danger. I loved the tension and obvious attraction between the two characters and was rooting for them to get back together.
This may be a novella, but it reads like a full-length novel. I loved how Katie introduced the other MacArthur family members, and I can’t wait to read their books. I give this novella four stars and can’t wait to pick up the other books in the series.
If you are looking for a light romantic, suspenseful novella with a second chance love story, then add this novella to your TBR.
