Wild Invitation is a collection of Psy/Changeling novellas written by Nalini Singh. This one includes #0.5, #3.5, #9.5, and #10.5 in the series. I’m going to try to keep each review short. Notice the word try.
Review of Beat of Temptation (#0.5) (Read May 11, 2021)
I’ve already read some of the full-length novels, so I was familiar with Nate and Tammy, but I had never read about how they were bonded. “Beat of Temptation” is where Nate and Tammy’s bond begins. Nate is ten years older than Tammy, and they became bonded when she was still a young teenager. He didn’t want her to be mated at such a young age; he wanted her to have her freedom first. Unfortunately, once the bond is in place, it becomes difficult for both shifters to deny it. Refusing the bond can affect them both physically and emotionally. While Nate can shut off the bond, Tammy cannot.
I felt for Tammy because she loved Nate and wanted to be with him, but he was being stubborn. I understood Nate’s perspective, as he had already experienced life and wanted Tammy to have some experiences before being mated to him, especially since she is the pack’s healer. I already loved Nate and Tammy from the full-length novels, but this story deepened my affection for them. Nalini Singh did a fantastic job of introducing readers to these lovable characters, and she also included some steamy moments between them. 🙂

Review of Stroke of Enticement (#3.5) (Read May 31, 2021)
Nalini Singh introduces readers to the story of how Annie Kildaire and Zach Quinn first met in her short novella. Annie is a school teacher who encounters Zach during a parent-teacher meeting for his nephew. I appreciated how Zach handled the situation regarding his nephew and the reason he found himself in trouble, he was simply looking out for someone.
Annie is wary of Zach because he is a changeling male. Despite her reluctance, the instant attraction between them is undeniable, even though Annie tries to suppress it. She hesitates to give Zach a chance, fearing that the spark between them will fade over time.
I loved how Nalini developed their relationship so effectively in such a brief novella. She accelerated their story to illustrate how Zach is proving his love for Annie. This was a sweet and sexy short read, and I enjoyed getting to know both characters.

Review of Declaration of Courtship (#9.5) (Read April 15th, 2025)
Declaration of Courtship is another novella in the Psy/Changeling series by Nalini Singh. No matter the length of the story, Singh always captivates me with her character development, world-building, and overall plot. I find myself completely immersed in the characters and the world they inhabit. This is true for Cooper and Grace’s courtship as well, even when it is a short and fast-paced story. It didn’t take long to either read or listen to, as I borrowed the audiobook while following along in the paperback.
I enjoyed getting to know these two characters, especially as Cooper attempts to convince Grace to be his mate despite their contrasting personalities. Cooper is dominant, while Grace is submissive, which makes him seem intimidating to her. When Cooper declares that he will be courting Grace, she is taken aback and shies away, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t interested in him.
I loved how Cooper interacted with Grace, aware that he intimidated her. He gently eased her into the situation instead of forcing her, which I appreciated. Although Grace initially seemed shy, she possesses a quiet strength and a submissive nature typical of her character as a wolf. I enjoyed getting to know her, even if it was only for a short time.
Overall, this novella in the series by Nalini Singh is amazing, and I give it five stars. Now, I’m moving on to Kiss of Snow, which will be my first time reading, and I’m so excited.

Review of Texture of Intimacy (#10.5) (Read May 4, 2025)
Texture of Intimacy is another novella in the Psy-Changeling series that can be read right after Kiss of Snow. It focuses on Lara and Walker, two characters who were featured in Kiss of Snow. I enjoyed getting to know them better and seeing how they navigate their mating bond, especially when faced with obstacles. Lara is a healer for the SnowDancer pack, while Walker is a telepath who doesn’t experience emotions the same as Lara. Lara craves skin-to-skin contact, whereas Walker, due to the nature of the PsyNet, reacts in a more detached way. This story demonstrates the opposites-attract theme, filled with challenges, but Walker is determined to provide Lara with what she needs, even though he is unsure how to do so at first, and Lara won’t ever give up on him.
I really loved how Nalini provided a follow-up on Sienna and Hawke and their situation. Hawke is being his usual possessive and protective self with Sienna. Fortunately, Sienna has her family to support her in dealing with his OTT possessiveness, among other things.
Overall, this novella is another great addition to the series, and I’m excited to continue catching up. The world and characters feel like family to me, and I want to protect them at all costs from the corrupt Psy and their actions.

I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.
I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia.
