When Lucian is faced with his biggest fear - becoming the next breeding male - he knows his only options are imprisonment or death. But when he learns that the key to his salvation may lie in the body of the veana he's trying to forget, he's forced to choose between sanity and the destruction of the only woman he's ever loved.
Craving a vampire romance with a true alpha hero? The Mark of the Vampire series by Laura Wright is your answer. Laura writes alpha vampire heroes who challenge your morals. In Eternal Captive, Lucian Roman faces becoming the Breeding Male, a role he dreads, which will separate him from the woman he loves. The issue is their bond was already sealed when Bronwyn gave him her blood, which means that when she’s kidnapped, only Lucian can save her, which will end up testing him, especially when he’s being forced to become the Breeding Male.
This was my second time reading Eternal Captive, and I enjoyed it again. I reread it to refresh my memory because I never reviewed it the first time I read it. The story is complex, Bronwyn struggles with Lucian’s fate, and Lucian knows he can never truly be with her. While I questioned Lucian, his motivations are understandable, though not all readers will like him.
I liked Bronwyn, although I questioned her when she almost gave up on her bond with Lucian (that she already knew was happening) to choose someone safer. Still, it was clear she couldn’t truly be with anyone else. Both face danger while they are held captive, but their chemistry is inevitable as they’re forced together. Their push and pull kept me drawn to their story, and I wanted to understand why Lucian felt drawn to Bronwyn despite his fate because a Breeding Male isn’t supposed to find love.
The book balances steamy romance with action-packed scenes featuring the main couple and a wider cast, driving the series’ ongoing appeal. Lately, I’ve been craving a vampire romance and knew Laura Wright would deliver. I give this book 4 stars and look forward to finishing the series that’s been on my shelf since its release.
POV: Third Person (Multi-POV)
Standalone or Part of Series: It’s part of the Mark of the Vampire series and needs to be read in order.
Would I recommend this book? Yes. If you want a romance with alpha vampire heroes and strong heroines, try the Mark of the Vampire series by Laura Wright.

My obsession with reading started over 30+ years ago when I went to my first Scholastic Book Fair and found R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. Later, I came across Anne Rice's novels at my public library when I was fourteen when my obsession with vampires started. I was the girl who preferred to be a vampire over a princess any day. My husband says I would leave him a heartbeat for a vampire that looked like Spike or Angel (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. (It's true, though, and he's accepted it.)
