Aboard the Staten Island ferry, a tourist comes across something she shouldn't have seen - something someone needs kept very quiet. Soon no one can find her. But if she didn't jump, and she's not on board, where is she?
Homicide Lieutenant Eve Dallas is called to the scene and is quickly faced with a shocking web of lies. With time running out and a deadly trail of intimidation and revenge emerging, Eve and her team must find out just what was seen on that ferry . . .

Missing in Death is another novella in J.D. Robb’s In Death series, and it’s a quick read that packs just as much excitement as the full-length books. Even though it’s shorter, the story kept me interested from start to finish.

In this story, Eve Dallas and her team are called to the Staten Island ferry after a woman goes missing and is later found with no memory of what happened. Eve suspects the woman saw something she shouldn’t have, and the murderer, along with a dead body, may still be on the ferry. As they search for answers, Eve and her team uncover a case of revenge that Roarke might be able to help solve, since the victim is someone from his past.

Since I started reading the In Death series in 2020, I’ve found that every book, even the novellas, is just as entertaining. I stay hooked because I get to follow Eve and her team as they solve each case, and they always manage to catch the culprit, no matter who it is.

Some of my favorite moments in this novella are the interactions between Eve and Peabody while they’re investigating on the ferry. When a guy flirts with Peabody, Eve teases her, which is a fun scene. Moments like these remind me how well Eve and Peabody work together as partners.

Overall, this is another strong and mysterious addition to the In Death series, and I give it four stars. Now, I’m onto the next full-length novel in the series, and I can’t wait to get started. These books are like chips; once you start, you can’t stop until you’ve finished the whole bag. I’m determined more than ever to catch up on this series.

If you haven’t started this series yet, now’s a great time. Don’t let the number of books in the series intimidate you. I know at first it did me, but I’m so glad I picked up this series because it’s definitely become a favorite.

Favorite Quote:

“…..Having a really cute guy like Jake flirt with me has some frost, but knowing I’m going to be snuggling up with McNab tonight? That’s the ice?”

“Why do you always have to put you and McNab and sex in my head? It brings pain no blocker can cure.”
